PC Recycler works with local training agencies and volunteer centres to provide work experience and volunteer roles.

Applications for these roles must come via one of the recognised agencies.

Special: Roles for 16-24 year olds living in Blackpool

In conjunction with Millenium volunteers Blackpool, PC Recycler runs a 40 hour computer refurbishment workshop. The workshops commence on Monday August 14th, 2006, and will run for 3 years.

Do you want to know what is inside your computer? Would you like to be able to upgrade it, or add components? The PC Recycler computer workshop will show you this and more! Free travel and a free lunch each time you attend. Note:- Bus fare is repaid on production of a bus fare ticket. Lunch can be pre-paid, but the receipt must be produced afterwards.Every volunteer completing 40 hours will receive a free refurbished computer, a free set of software tools and a nationally recognised certificate from Millenium volunteers

These workshops are funded by the Fairshare Lottery fund, and are only available free to young people aged 16 to 24 living in the FY1 postcode area of Blackpool.

  • You will learn how to do the following in a ''real'' working environment.
  • Dismantle computer, identify and replace key components.
  • Securely "wipe" hard disk.
  • Prepare hard disk and install operating system.
  • Obtain and install hardware drivers.
  • "Image" hard disk with Norton ghost/Acronis and recover to known good state.
  • Backup data/work so that no information is lost if a computer fails.
  • Web protection topics, antivirus/spyware, firewall, updates, what not to do and what to avoid!
